Hi all,
Got a call from an Ohio birder who said the bird came in a bit closer to the
road this morning in the typical spot of the past few days.
I have been after our local newspaper, the Imperial Valley Press, to run
something, anything, on this bird since Wednesday morning the day after it was
origionaly found by Al Kalin. They deemed it un-newsworthy!? Yesterday morning,
Wednesday Nov. 17, Julio Moreno met us at the site at 6am and did a piece.
Although the editors of IVP still do not think it is news worthy of printing in
our paper they did let this young man do a video that is now posted on their
website and is on You Tube. I first saw it a little bit ago. Thought he did a
good job but the one part that got edited out that I thought most significant
for the Imperial Valley in the first place was that the bird was first
identified and reported by a most respected member of our valley Al Kalin! There
is supposed to be an edit of the video to put that back in. A link to the video
can be found on the Imperial Valley Press Facebook page at this link.
